中国高中毕业，均分80以上可以直接申请入读RMIT本科，无需高考成绩。设计类等要求作品集的专业可以通过预科(Foundation)或者国际大一(Diploma)入读，以免除背景要求。

从2024-2025申请季开始，加州理工、布朗大学、达特茅斯学院、哈佛陆续多所高校宣布恢复或强制SAT/ACT标化成绩要求。
这些学校恢复标准化考试成绩要求的主要原因是，校方发现考试成绩依然是评估学生学术能力的重要指标；
以耶鲁大学发出的声明为例，自从采用标化选交政策以来，耶鲁大学申请人数激增，但申请者的整体质量并没有同步增长；
过多申请者使得招生过程变得更加复杂困难，降低招生效率。恢复标准化考试要求有助于筛选出具备较高学术能力和潜力的申请者，优化招生质量。
